Daniel N. Farber
Chief Executive Officer
Daniel N. Farber leads HLC Equity’s executive strategy, investment growth, and operating businesses. He has played a central role in guiding HLC Equity’s transition from a private holding group into an institutional-level real estate investment sponsor, while expanding the firm’s co-investment platform and long-standing portfolio.
Prior to his work in real estate investment, Daniel served as a strategic consultant to multinational corporations and large political organizations. He holds degrees and certificates from Reichman University, Columbia University, and New York University, and is an active member of the Young Presidents Organization.
Fun Fact: Before joining HLC Equity, Daniel had a full set of hair and was a competitive ski racer.
Stephen Markowitz
Director of Acquisitions
Stephen Markowitz leads HLC Equity’s acquisition efforts, with responsibility for sourcing, underwriting, and executing new investment opportunities. His background includes institutional multifamily acquisitions, investment sales, capital restructures, and debt and equity asset management.
Before joining HLC Equity, Stephen held senior acquisition roles at Fairfield Residential and Rose Valley Capital. Earlier in his career, he worked at Newmark on institutional multifamily sales and equity recapitalizations, and began his real estate career at Trimont, where he was involved in loan workouts and capital restructures across distressed real estate assets.
Fun Fact: Stephen is an avid Atlanta Hawks fan and travels to a different city each year to cheer on his team.
David Molitor
Director of Operations
David Molitor oversees property operations across HLC Equity’s real estate portfolio, along with broader corporate operations. He is also actively involved in the acquisitions process, supporting sourcing, analysis, and due diligence for new property opportunities.
Prior to joining HLC Equity, David worked with McKinney Properties, a multifamily and student housing owner-operator, where he was involved in both new business development and property operations. His experience includes supporting more than $225 million in new property acquisitions and managing a multi-state portfolio across seven properties.
Fun Fact: In high school, David played guitar in a rock and roll band.


Micah Gimpel
Chief Financial Officer
Micah Gimpel oversees accounting processes, financial reporting, tax considerations, and related entity financial operations for HLC Equity.
Before joining HLC Equity, Micah worked as a global controller for BlackRock Inc.’s investment portfolio, which included real estate, private equity, distressed debt, equity funds, and bond funds. In that role, he led investment accounting, external audits, SOX compliance, and portfolio reporting to BlackRock’s executive capital committee and the SEC.
Micah earned his CPA while working with Big Four accounting firms, gaining tax planning and compliance experience at KPMG and audit experience with Ernst & Young’s financial services group. He holds a BA in Economics from Yeshiva University and an MBA in Finance from Bar Ilan University.
Fun Fact: Micah may come across as the classic CPA/MBA finance professional, but he once chased down and caught a burglar in broad daylight before the police arrived.
